The description sounds like my usual kind of fantasy read. From the first look of the book, however, I couldn't tell if I liked the writing style. It felt as if it was trying a bit too hard, both in "sounding" like a high fantasy, and in the main character thing to be cool but coming off a bit obnoxious. Would have to read more to see if the writing expands upon the world and characters in a positive way.
