Hang on, because the hate is only getting started!
Thank you to BookishFirst and author G.A. Aiken for the chance to read the first two chapters of The Princess Knight.
It is amazing that the author could fit that much malice and anger into the first two chapters! The book focuses on Brother Gemma, also known as Princess Gemma, a highly trained war monk, as she is sent to intervene in a prophecy involving her sister becoming a queen. The book details a "War of the Roses" styled conflict, with more magic, in which two competing branches of the family support two different contenders for the crown. The character and several important supporting characters are well developed. I think the beginning of the book would benefit from a map, but that is not critical to following events. The author flies through the action, so it is really hard to stop reading after two chapters. I'm going to have to get this book for sure!
