This certainly has an interesting set up. I like the mixed brotherhood of war monks and the crusade-y vibes that I'm getting from this first impression. However when you start talking about washing brains out of your hair and wiping blood from your eyes then that's when I have to back out. That is just too much gore for me not in the context of a murder mystery being solved. I don't know why it should matter, but for me it does.
