Highly engaging! The First Read sucked me in so much that I checked out the book right away from the library even though I did not win a copy for review purposes this time.

The format of a young psychiatrist keeping a journal worked very well, and the build up and psychological horror was very well done. I was both intrigued and terrified by The Patient and I was nervous for all those who had to encounter him. He affected everyone, especially his caregivers, in the most sinister of ways. Each chapter drew me further into the compelling story as I tried to figure out where the novel would lead.

After the "reveal" the action seemed to go a tad too fast, but I think that's because I didn't want the story and the anxiety for the characters to end. This is definitely an author that I will look for in the future, as I really love a well-done horror story.
