Dewitt's short book is fantastic. While it is short the writer does a good job at using language to provide description. It is easy to follow. There are a few parts that are confusing however, the story and the plot is not lost. The reader does feel a sense of doom and the suspense keep the reader going. The patient in the story is believable and there are not many parts that seem to be unbelievable, which sometimes can kill a story like this. Parker is a believable character and it is easy to "feel" the characteristics, even the narcissism that almost dooms him in the end. I wont give much away here, but there seems to be a sense of who the patient actually is. Is Parker the Patient's patient where he learns the facts of mental health and what all new people in the field believe? That they can save anyone? That to me seems to be part of the theme here. Its more like Therapist heal thyself.
