When I first read the description for this book, I was concerned; if this were a work of fiction, based on the description at least, I would have assumed this to be a random horror story about crazy serial killers in an asylum, and would further stigmatize mental health. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was based on true experiences, which give a very interesting insight into the ways we currently treat the mentally ill (which is to say, poorly). I do feel that the writing style is a bit pretentious/convoluted; a lot of fancy words were used, and sentences seemed to last a long time. However, as someone with a deep-rooted trauma regarding physiatrics wards, while I think that this would be a very interesting read, I am not sure I myself would enjoy it.
