So the premise of this story is really strong, the writing style is engaging, and there is just enough mystery there too hook the reader and make them wonder just what is wrong with Joe too. However, the setting feels at times a little cliche. Dark stormy nights and decrepit buildings don't always equate to creepy feelings. Bad people aren't always ugly (a la pig eyed supervisor). Sometimes I wish that stories would break from those habits and patterns. Because well run sunny places can hold unimaginable horrors too, just sayin'.
