Intriguing beginning that grabs you. The subject of the Spanish Flu and our current world situation with COVID-19 makes it even more interesting. The main character, Pia, quickly becomes a character you want to know more about. What are these strange feelings she has when someone touches her and how will it be related to the flu epidemic are two questions I want to know the answer to. The author paints a fairly good picture of the setting and mood of the general population for the time period. She also touches on the ethnic issues and biases that existed at the time which also mirrors the current race issues in our country. I've enjoyed the book so far and look forward to finishing it when it is available!
