This book was definitely well written and well researched. It covered such a difficult and hard time in history while not being overly graphic in the descriptions of those affected. I felt that the tone and gravity of the time was captured well and it was very heart breaking which was to be expected. I like how this time in history was broken down in a way that made it feel very individual and captured the story of Pia as she tried to save herself and her siblings. The journey of Pia to find out what happened to her siblings is harrowing and covers the experience that many of these children faced in the orphanage and on the train. I really found it interesting that Pia had a special ability, however I think it added something to the story that did not belong. The author did a really good job bringing in the villian of this story and made this story mysterious at the same time as uplifting at the end. Thanks for the ARC, Goodreads. This is definitely one to read.
