This is a story set in Philadelphia during the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic. There are 2 main characters who we follow through about 8 years of their lives during this very difficult time in our history. The story is compelling and this is a real page turner.
What is really interesting about this is comparing and contrasting life during the Spanish flu and during the current Covid-19 outbreak. There are differences of course. Medical care had come a long way but people's attitudes and behavior and willingness to play the "blame game" seem strikingly similar.
The story and characters are well written. The story includes historical references and taught me about the Spanish flu which I knew nothing about!
