This is an amazing book. I have never read books by this author. The main character is very strong and resilient.
The setting is the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic. It is nice that this book is coming out when it is due to the Corona Virus taking place in 2020. The author does an amazing job at detailing what the Spanish flu did to its victims. The main character survives harsh struggles. As the reader gets to journey with Pia through good times, bad times, bad characters, and loving ones, the virus rages on.
I loved this book, mostly. There was a point where I realized WHO the orphan collector is, and I began to lose interest in the book. Fortunately, I fell in love with the main character and kept going. The ending is lovely and I cant wait to see what the author has in store next!
