As a registered nurse the book is very appealing to me. We're in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic so reading about the Spanish flu pandemic is relatable. As an RN, I'm an advocate for my patients so to see someone be so vindictive and evil as Bernice then to see Pia trying to keep her family together breaks my heart. Family is so important, especially during a pandemic and to know there are people who purposely try to keep families apart is terrifying.
