This story is set in Philadelphia during the 1918 Spanish Influnza outbreak. Pia, a thirteen year old girl, awakens in a hospital after being stricken. She is taken to an orphanage and struggles to return to her family. There are very interesting reproductions of photos and public health posters from that time in the book.
