I like that the book starts out with real material to set the tone of the story. Ellen Marie Wiseman is a good storyteller that can really bring the setting and characters to life. I can almost feel the anxiety that Pia is feeling myself, both about the general feeling of something being wrong and about her personal issues with physical touch. As an immigrant myself, the anti-immigrant rhetoric is hard to swallow and I feel for the characters affected by it. Historical fiction is a favorite of mine and I can't wait to read more!
