I enjoyed meeting Pia, a young and afraid German girl who at first seems weak and scared, but I predict we will learn she can take charge. I can’t wait to see what comes of her relationship with Finn and how Pia handles her new situation without her mother. Next, we meet Bernice, a grief stricken American woman. She sees Pia in the neighborhood from a window and wonders about her and her family. I can’t wait to see if and when Pia and Bernice paths cross. This novel has me wanting more! The cover of this book instantly drew me in and from what I’ve read of the story, the illustration matches the novel perfectly. This is a must finish for me!
