The Only Good Indians is an absolutely incredible horror novel. It follows four Indigenous men after a disastrous hunting trip, as they are hunted by a vengeful spirit.
It having been a decade since the hunting trip, two of the characters have moved away from the reservation, and two remained. The spirit hunting them doesn’t want to directly confront the hunters. Early on it seems to toy with them and let them ruin themselves. The book gets eerier as the plot continues. I enjoyed that each man got his own part, building to the climax.
There is a lot of gory and creepy imagery in this novel, if you don't like animals being hurt or animal death imagery, this may not be the book for you, as there is a decent section at the beginning of the book that goes into detail regarding the deaths of deer.
This book kept me thinking about it for days after I finished reading it.
