Spooky! I don't really know how to rate this because it was something else. I probably would not have read this had I known it was horror, because that is NOT my genre. I knew the author was Indigenous and decided to pick it from Libro's July choices.
I did weirdly enjoy this kind of?? Like I honestly don't really know how I felt about this. I was enamored and creeped the fuck out while reading, but I couldn't stop. Also, did not expect this to be so gorey. I think teeth being pulled out is past my limit haha.
This whole premise was so mystical? fantastic? Not sure of the right wording here. But it was definitely interesting. I'd love a follow up story about the Elk head woman bc why not. I did like how each of the guys was slowly driven mad, it was fascinating to watch and horrifying.
Overall, I would've never picked this up myself, but I'm glad I did and quite confused lol.
