This is my first Jones novel and I'm not sure if the writing style resonates with me personally. I love the premise of the novel and really like that Native American story lines are the focus but it still lacked much meat in the realm of horror for me. I think there were some eerie or graphic moments but getting to those seemed long and tedious. I found myself putting this one down more often than not and pushing myself to read just a little bit more. In the end, the novel fell short for me. The characters were able to explore their views on prejudice and racism towards Native Americans quite effectively in the story but I think the writing makes it truly difficult to grasp the entire horror aspect.
