This is one of those books that you can get so absorbed in you forget you’re just reading. Albeit on the short end of books I typically read, it packed a big punch. The mystery of what’s actually happening, the fear of what’s to come, and the desperation of the characters all keep you engaged throughout.

The Only Good Indians has multiple shocking events but they are thankfully not over-gratuitous. Each shock feels warranted. And definitely satisfying if you’re truly into horror. Even months after reading it, there are some parts that have stuck with me and I don’t expect I will be forgetting them any time soon.

I’ve been recommending this book to anyone asking for horror recs, recs of Indian/indigenous authors, and I plan to keep doing so. Stephen Graham Jones has a huge career ahead of him and I’m so excited to read his newest release.
