Beautiful and haunting
This book challenged me in so many ways. It was quite different from other horror stories -- not just the American Indian background information, but in the characters and plot development, too. I listened to it on audio which had its advantages as well as disadvantages. The writing was beautiful and unique. There were many elements of the story that I didn't understand, so I found myself googling a lot. After reading this, I feel a greater appreciation for the culture and traditions of American Indians. Even though that wasn't the main entertainment value of the story, it was a byproduct of this unique book.
I wish there was a FAQ section, a glossary, or even a basic outline of an explanation at the end of the book. I am sure that I missed some important details along the way, and really want to understand more about the culture than I did going in.
