I devoured this book in absolute chunks. Though the prologue gives a hint of what may be to come, the first part of this book starts out on a slow and mundane route of a postal worker and his wife. Slowly, this read gets your mind bending, trying to understand what exactly is going on. But around the end of the first section of the book is where things really hit the fan.
There seems to be an art to the delicate nature of adding jaw dropping gore while still applying some level of taste. This author did well with this and so I will be adding him my short list of Contemporary Gore Horror to join the King of horror himself and Ed Kurtz. For me, a great horror book must have a happy marriage or gore, suspense, and mystery. All of which I feel this book has. I was gripping my hand to my mouth many times from shock and disgust- in the best way possible, of course.

The author takes an interesting approach with character perspective. I’m not sure if I enjoyed that or not, but it definitely worked for this story. It was also quite refreshing to see an ending that didn’t leave more questions than answers. I do like something that keeps my mind looped on it because I need so much more from it, but I’ve picked up many books ending in that nature lately. So, it’s nice to have something so clean cut and polished at the end.
The characters are created well enough that I feel like I might have met them in passing once. Possibly due to their troubled nature? I guess they’re believable enough in flaw to seem real.

Over all I think that this book is a good fit for people who like books that you have to invest in. I wouldn’t say that this is a slow burn, but it is slow to start and for me the pacing is great but could be troubling for some. If you like classic horror, then I’d say read this for sure.
