An Okay Mystery
This YA mystery was just an overall okay read for me.
To be clear, it wasn't a bad book by any means. It just didn't stand out for me personally, when I compare it to other YA mysteries I've read.
I thought that the plot was intriguing, and that kept me turning the page. However, I wasn't as connected to the characters as I wanted to be. I thought it was interesting that I as a reader had to wait to learn about Lauren's dark past...but I think the reveal took a bit too long to get to.
The ending was a bit predictable for me, and pretty underwhelming after such a great build up. However, I know that all readers will not feel the same. In fact, I think this would be a good read for readers who haven't read a lot of mysteries, as they are less likely to see the twists coming (since they maybe aren't as familiar with the genre tropes). So I would recommend this book for readers who are new to the YA mystery genre.
