Overall, great book! There were multiple different suspects and to be honest, the author was able to convince me that each suspect was the guilty one! It’s rare for me to not spot the plot twist early because I read too many mystery and thriller books, but this one actually surprised me, which I love!
My only complaint is that there are a lot of characters. So, at times it’s hard to remember who is who based off their name. However, I felt more connected to the characters by the end of the book and understood each person’s place in the story and book.
Additionally, I enjoyed that the main character wasn’t a typical perfect character. So often in these young adult mysteries, the main character is obnoxiously perfect. This one was not like that! We knew immediately that Lauren (the main character) did things in her past which forced her mom and her to move. That made Lauren somewhat relatable. Not her prior actions, but the fact that she wasn’t perfect and had a lot of skeletons in her closet.
I was hooked as soon as Lauren ended up going on a lake house trip with a potential murderer in the first few chapters! Overall, a great and thrilling novel!
