I very much enjoyed the characters in this novel Lauren and Robbie were comforting and had me tearing up whenever they were experiencing pain!! I loved the plot because it was pretty fast paced once we got through the “lore” of characteristics I guess if this small town.
As someone who moved into a small town similar to the atmosphere of Happy Valley I felt so relatable to the feelings Lauren had of being an outsider and working so hard to make a place for yourself into a community that has had years upon years to make memories and connections with each other without you. Not to mention as we got through the plot of the present we were finally learning the missing pieces of the past it was very enjoyable to read especially at the end when it was getting to the juiciest parts!!
My biggest thing is I wanted more from the actual ending and from the criminal because it felt almost not justified enough and was a bit unsatisfying.
