I love this book right away. The main character doesn’t immediately seem like the protagonist. She drinks, potentially very heavily, has secrets, and is constantly lying. Yet, as the reader, you immediately root for her. Even when she appears to be the one being mean to Robbie, a seemingly nice kid. However, based on the remaining part of the first few chapters and the summary of the book, Robbie may be a serial killer?! Ah! I’m hooked, can’t wait to read it.
