So I got my advanced copy & immediately was drawn to the cover artwork it is very eye catching. The characters were really well written. I have found myself deeply invested in the protagonist, Hui. His morality was something I was draw to. I think it is easier to read books when you care about the characters, and it is hard not to with how well written they are. The death of his best friend almost made me want to stop reading but I had to know how Hui’s story turns out. The historical aspects of his story mix with known historical facts about Egypt & it makes such a great way to tell a story. I didn’t think I would like this book but anyone who likes foreign countries & their history mixed with a fictional character will love this book. I won’t spoil the ending but this book makes me want to read other books by the author. I will recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Egypt & fictional characters.
