Wilbur Smith's writing just feels dated to me. I don't mean dated in the fact that he's writing about the ancient Egyptians in this story. It just feels like an old bro code standard, with the brave man who's betrayed and rises up and becomes a hero and saves a damsel in distress. I'm sure there's people this appeals to, but it's just boring and regurgitated to me.
