Wilbur Smith has an incredible ability to capture reader's attention and create vast world-building scenes and places. The concept of ancient Egypt and gods coming together in Smith's latest book, The New Kingdom, intrigued me at first. But after reading the synopsis, I realized it's just not for me. It had potential but the synopsis really put me off the book. However I do think many others will enjoy this genre and storyline.
