Stereotypically high school with a surprising underlying message

I have to be honest: I initially went into this book thinking I had pretty much deciphered the entire plot and ending. I can admit I was far from the truth. Although the core of this book lies heavily on the bond between two sisters, there’s a deeper layer of meaning that every teenager (and adult) should understand. Gaslighting vulnerable women and men is real; it’s happening right now; and it needs to be stopped NOW.

While the majority of this book progresses rather slowly (I found it rather taxing to get through some of the overly ‘teenage nerd’ stereotyping), the last few chapters make up for that in a big way. All of the seemingly unrelated information throughout the book get connected to reveal a great twist at the end. Ivy and Autumn were very relatable characters who I found myself caring about in the end. I would recommend this book based solely on the underlying message it highlights. I’d honestly give it 3 1/2 stars but I’ll round up to 4.
