Fresh idea in a setting that is comfortable

OK, so YA books tend to be written like your mom would want them handled. All the characters are good, the cutest guy is overly romantic... blah, blah, blah. This book is so not your typical Sweet Valley High. Thank goodness! I am excited to read more of this book filled with real characters and a very fresh story line.
