The cover is really striking - simple but really effective. The scorpion fits well with the desert setting, and possibly hints at some tricks our protagonist Zahru may have up her sleeve...what with being able to communicate with animals and all.

The title also intrigues me...a 'kinder' poison...what is this said poison and what other concoctions is it 'kinder' than?

The blurb lightly outlines how lowly stable girl Zahru stumbles into her high-stakes dilemma - being a human sacrifice instrumental for the next ruler to be decided - but it stops short of revealing too much, ensuring I want to read more!
