I was really interested in the world being built, and especially appreciated the detailed descriptions of it. However it was hard to become immersed in the story because of the way things were described, such as the special terms marked in italics and then defined right after. It felt unnatural and jolted me out of the story. I would like to read more but I hope the narration style will become more fluid further in.
