My first impression of this book was the cover and how it perfectly does the job of drawing readers in by way of its bright purple color. The typeface of the cover and first couple of pages is also perfect for evoking a fantasy story about to unfold. Upon reading the preview, I was immediately taken by the author’s beautiful descriptions of the river and the canoe, so much so that I felt transported to the scene and could picture it vividly. The two main characters in the beginning of the book are equal parts cute and funny and both are very likable so far. I enjoyed reading the preview and look forward to reading it in its entirety.
