I was very intrigued by this book and when I got my copy was so glad to know how it ended! Emily and Lucas what a pair and how he taught her how to survive even better than just on her own was an inspiring story itself. I really liked Kiona too she was an interesting character. Without giving away any spoilers the ending was both good and sad. You feel for Emily all the way through in how much she endures and it isn't far off from what a lot of kids have probably had to struggle through. This is a great story about survival, and whether we like to admit it things that do happen everyday. Life can change in the blink of an eye like it did in this book. I think this book touched on a lot of truthful subjects but still is a story that has been interesting and written well. I can't wait for the second book to come out, especially since I have worked with troubled youth and know some of them have dealt with similar situations and struggles and it takes a lot for recovery and you hope they all get some kind of happiness at the end of a tough road, although it's never really ended and never far away from them.
