I was thrilled to receive my first ever BookishFirst giveaway! The book jumped right into the plot, with twists and turns at every new chapter. The reader is brought into the mind of Emily Calby, the Hiding Girl, a twelve year old who is forced to run for her life after her mother and sister are brutally killed by two men. Along the way, she meets Lucas and Kiona who train Emily to defend herself and hunt down the killers.

While I enjoyed the book, there were almost too many situations that quickly became unbelievable and unrealistic. It was also hard for me to see beyond the gore and violence at parts to fully appreciate the plot and characters. That being said however, I thought the book ended well, well enough to be a stand alone and not the first book in a series.
