I was so impressed by Dorian Box’s “The Hiding Girl.” There were so many different layers to the lead character, Emily Calby. I felt like I knew her and just felt for her as she continuously faced trials and tribulations.
Not only at 12 years old, she lost her entire family, but she was able to move forward and try to survive on her own. She was so strong when I feel like most wouldn’t be in her situation. I loved how we got to know her as a character in so many ways. She had so many dimensions. I could barely put the book down because I just couldn’t wait until I could see what she did next.
The book was incredibly well-written. As there were so many twists throughout, it kept me incredibly engaged. While it felt like she couldn’t catch a break, there were so many kind people there to help her on her journey. It shows how life isn’t always what you hope, but with the right people beside you, you’re able to accomplish greatness. Definitely recommend reading and I’m excited to read book two whenever that comes out!
