This is a really, really strong start! I'm obviously curious for the backstory, which I know is gruesome, but simultaneously, I don't need to know. The travel portion and meeting Lucas is intriguing! The writing is good overall, and my favorite aspect is the dialects/accents - the author is doing a great job at conveying the different ways the characters speak. Looking forward to reading the rest!
