It was a short easy enough read. I called pretty much all of it from the beginning, but it was still interesting despite being predictable. I’m impressed with how the author worked in Ripley the dog, and how she helped with Spencer’s anxiety. I also liked how she showed Spencer’s depression and anxiety leading to her issue with her pain pills and the way it was addressed. Neither major plot points but I found them to benefit the story. The book gives big OC vibes, Spencer seeming similar to Taylor, the vaguely annoying overachiever, while Ethan gives genderbent Marissa feels.

I do feel like this book was written for the lower YA spectrum. It also left me a little underwhelmed with the why for the killer. The who I saw coming from the first quarter of the book. But the why seemed lackluster and not worth the severity of the actions. The secondary creepy character also didn’t make a lot of sense, what they were hoping to accomplish.
