Thank you to Melissa de la Cruz, Bookish First and Roaring Brook Press for a copy of The Headmaster's List. I don't give away spoilers in my reviews.
Melissa de la Cruz is one of my very favorite YA authors. I've read other books of hers and always enjoy reading another.
The Headmaster's List is a very difficult list to land on at Spencer's private school. Landing on the list gives a student special treatment - a photo on the Headmaster's shelf, privleges such as leaving campus for lunch and most importantly - a letter endorsing the student from the Headmaster himself.
Spencer is an over achiever to a 4.9 GPA level and works hard at her whole life so she can go to CalTech. She comes from a good family, lives in the right place, has the right friend, the perfect boyfriend.
It all comes crashing down one night at a party. The twists and turns of where the storyline goes made for a great read. I truthfully had figured out one crucial part very early on, but didn't figure out the rest of it until it's revealed.
Another great mystery by a great author.
