I had to sit with this one for a day to let my feelings set in. First, I want to compliment the writing - Melissa de la Cruz has written a ton of books, and it shows. There wasn't a lot of run on, no plot holes, nothing went unanswered that I saw. I hate when that happens, so it was a relief that it didn't happen here. The writing was taut and tight and the chapters were fairly short, which I also like - I hate when a chapter drones on and on and ooonnnn. I like being able to put it down every couple of pages to go do something else if need be. And also, the plot! That plot. If you pay attention to the cover, the main twist is spelled out in black and white, so it's not a shock. But that's not the whole story and when it was revealed it took my breath away (or in other words, I let out a breath I didn't know I'd been holding - if you know you know!). I didn't see THAT coming at all, and it totally redeemed the book in my eyes. And of course, the end of the epilogue was perfection to me. All in all, I really did enjoy the book, and I gave it 4 stars.
