I was initially drawn to this book because I love the cover design and I’ve enjoyed the few books that I’ve read by Melissa de la Cruz in the past. Overall, this was a good young adult thriller, but unfortunately I found myself a bit disappointed. I found the storyline to be intriguing, but thought that the book’s pacing was a bit on the slower side, so I found myself losing interest at times. I liked the main character, Spencer, and her determination to figure out the truth and I also loved her emotional support service dog, Ripley. I did find most of the twists and ending to be quite predictable, which was also a bit disappointing. This book did have many good moments that caught my attention and had me intrigued, but this book wasn’t a favorite of mine. If you like young adult mysteries and thrillers, you may want to consider giving this one a try.
