Fun Yet Predictable Read
I would say overall, this was a fun Ya thriller to read.
I will say, however, that I guessed a couple of the twists early on (which is something I hardly ever do ahead of time, especially as early as I did with this book). There was also a third twist that didn't make that much sense to me personally.
In terms of the writing, the writing was easy to read, but the style did feel a bit young, like for the younger side of YA. That was a bit of a miss for me, only because the content of what the story was actually about was for older teens.
While this is a fiction book, I was a bit disappointed in how far the story strayed from reality with certain aspects when it came to the law/how the case was handled. But I was willing to suspend my belief in those instances to keep reading.
I liked how different extracts, like podcast transcripts and excerpts from the police report, were included in the narrative though. I think that was a nice touch to the world building.
I liked the protagonist, Spencer, the most out of all the characters. I will say though that If let there were quite a few characters that needed to be developed more.
