The first look really pulled me in but I did not enjoy this book at all.
The writing was not great and really had a tell, not show feel to it. I thought it was very obvious from the beginning who was actually driving the car and the “twist” was made obvious about halfway through the book. I didn’t like any of the characters, I was bored throughout the book, and I really just wanted it to end.
I know it’s YA but it read so young. I just didn’t care about any of the characters or the plot. Spencer got on my nerves (they got her a therapy dog but didn’t send her to therapy???) and all of the side characters were one dimensional. Also, for such an open and shut case, that trial lasted months which makes no sense at all.
Overall, not a book I would read again or recommend. I’m sure there is an audience for this book, I am just not a member. It was at least a quick read, though towards the end I just wanted to be finished and started skimming.
