In this YA thriller, four teens are involved in a car accident after a late-night, end of summer party. One of the teens, Chris Moore, is killed in the crash and another, Spencer Sandoval is seriously injured and in the hospital. Spencer’s boyfriend is identified as the driver and is charged with causing the accident. Spencer only remembers bits of what occurred that night and does not believe that Ethan was responsible. She and Jackson, Ethan’s best friend begin to work together investigating the real truth of what happened.

There were mixed feelings about this book. I thought that this novel had a fast pace and did have some twists at the end. For me, it was fairly predictable and I had figured out the ending very early on. It is directed at a YA audience so that may be why it felt that way. I think some of the characters in this story were just added in here and there and were not really developed in any way. I did find Spencer to be a likeable character as she tried to deal with what had happened and discover the truth about the crash. The support dog, Ripley, was also a great part of the book. Some of plot was not realistic and I found it odd that the police detective made almost no effort to conduct a proper investigation. Also, the idea of the Headmaster’s List at the prestigious prep school did not play as much of a role as I thought it might.
