This description kind of reminds me quite a bit of the YA novel "Before I Fall" book by Lauren Oliver. It's been awhile since I've read it, but it had a lasting impression on me. I'm also fascinated with the true crime podcast twist, I'm a true crime fanatic, but just recently got into podcasts. This appears to be a highly appealing story to me for these reasons.
