Not for me

I don't normally read thrillers - they're not my cup of tea, and anything labeled YA always makes cautious, especially when said YA book involves overly privileged teens. And I'm about 50-50 on Melissa de la Cruz's works. My first thought is the cover felt generic and rather blah and while the image may fit the plot (the car crash), it doesn't seem to go with the title. The excerpt turned me off because after the brief interaction between Spencer and the detective, it had the police report and a transcript of a podcast. I find these kinds of things disrupt the flow. Maybe it works for some, but not for me. The rest of the excerpt didn't draw me in. I'm sure this will have an audience, especially for those who love a thriller, but this is a pass for me.
