Right away, I noticed that the cover is stunning, if not a little misleading. I expected the story to take place during the late 1800s to early 1900s, but it indeed does not. Still, the cover draws you in. The story itself it fairly quick and engaging, and does a good job balancing thrill with police procedural. However, I worry about reading a woman written by a man and how that will come across (most the time a woman running her hand through her hair is not an invitation). It is also the second book in a series, so if reading series’ in order is how you roll, definitely track down the first book beforehand.
