I enjoyed this first look at "The Hanged Man." Inspector Mazarelle comes off as a no-f****-given sort of detective, which I always enjoy reading. It also creates plenty of drama between officers that work together, which could either be a good thing or a bad thing- it was too early for me to tell ;). I didn't read the first book in this series "The Paris Directive," but based on what I've read so far, it appears that this would make a great stand alone novel.

I'm already enjoying the setting- Gerald Jay did a great job describing buildings and people in an engaging and beautiful way.
