Twists and turns fill the pages of this wonderful book. While not a huge fan of ebooks, I couldn’t stop reading this one. Each chapter kept me engaged and saying “just one more chapter” until the wee hours of the morning. Alice aka Emily has had quite the life. Her mother and sister were murdered and she was the one that escaped. Living a life in hiding and on the run, she meets Lucas. Her PTSD and some poor decision making lands her in a juvenile detention center waiting trial for murder. Emily’s story comes out and we learn more with each twist and turn.
I found myself cheering for Emily throughout this whole book. Some things in her past were nothing to cheer about, but her strong will and perseverance lead her places. She sees the strength in others and helps when others are weak. As a little girl points out in a letter to Emily, she’s a real life hero.
