Great book
The Girl in Cell 49B was a very intense, thought provoking book. I love reading learning about the justice system, so this was right up my alley.
Emily Calby has experienced more in her young 15 years than most people live in their entire lives. Emily, who also goes by Alice Black, went through a terrible tragedy as a 12 year old. Her mother and younger sister were brutally murdered. She escaped. She lives with that guilt every day. So, when she goes to prison for the murder of a man who did something terrible to her, she uses all of her resources to figure out a plan to ‘fix’ her situation.
She meets new friends while in prison and uses the help of some old friends to help her figure out what her next steps will be. She is a super smart young lady and between Rebecca, Lucas, her public defender, Paula, and a few other people, she comes a long way in her fight for justice.
